Completed in 2020, the Greater Cairo Underground Stations project is a major expansion of Cairo’s metro network, commissioned by the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT). Delivered through a consortium led by Vinci Constructions, Bouygues Constructions, The Arab Contractors, and Orascom, and supervised by SYSTRA and EHAF, the program covers multiple underground stations designed for high-capacity transit. The project prioritizes safety, durability, and architectural alignment with Egypt’s urban infrastructure.
El Alfy Saraya’s Role – Interior Cladding El Alfy Saraya completed wall cladding across station platforms, concourses, and boarding areas using Silver Quartzite Panels, selected for their low porosity, abrasion resistance, and neutral tone. In ticket halls and circulation cores, Grigio Carnico Marble Slabs were installed to support wayfinding and provide a clean visual contrast. These finishes were specified to meet the operational demands of public transport environments while maintaining visual clarity and material reliability.
El Alfy Saraya’s Role – Interior Flooring The company also delivered high-performance flooring adapted to transit use. In primary concourse and platform zones, Flamed Dark Basalt Granite was installed for its slip resistance and durability under constant foot traffic. Secondary areas such as staircases, mezzanines, and service corridors were finished with Bush-Hammered Limestone, chosen for its texture and wear resistance. The overall flooring strategy reinforces passenger safety and unified station presentation.
